Application of Bio-Safe® Skin Protectant to hands and forearms every four hours provides effective protection from a range of gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Consistent use can greatly reduce the incidence of cross-contamination of pathogenic organisms.
The hypoallergenic polymer base in Bio-Safe® Skin Protectant effectively places a shielding layer between skin and protective gloves, creating a secondary defense from bacterial contaminants and chafing.
Clinical tests have determined that Bio-Safe® Skin Protectant is orally non-toxic, non-irritating to eyes and non-sensitizing to skin.
A study was conducted in two, 34 bed units in a Canadian community acute care hospital to evaluate whether consistent use of Bio-Safe® skin Protectant effectively reduces nosocomial MRSA contamination. Results indicated that patients hospitalized in the "control" group had a 9.3 times greater probability of acquiring nosocomial MRSA than those in the group in which Bio-Safe® Skin Protectant was used. Those who conducted the study concluded that Bio-Safe® Skin Protectant "may have a significant preventive effect upon nosocomial MRSA infection."
